Warsaw is a city located on two banks of the beautiful Vistula River. One of the most interesting ideas of getting from one part of the city to another is to use the ferries that will quickly transport you to the other side.
FREE FERRIES
Ferries are free and run during the spring and summer season. The journey takes only 10 minutes and is a very nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Feel the wind and the pleasant coolness that is especially nice on hot summer days. If you leave the Center, then on the other side of the shore you will find beautiful and wild beaches of Warsaw.
There are four free crossings across the Vistula River.
“Słonka” – links the left-bank port of Cypel Czerniakowski (City Center) with the right-bank beach at Saska Kępa .
“Pliszka” – connects the Center with Prague; the ferry leaves the boulevards at Poniatowski Bridge and reaches the beach at the National Stadium
“Wilga” – connects the Old Town with Old Prague; the ferry starts from the boulevards at the height of the Multimedia Fountain Park, it reaches the beach near the ZOO
„Turkawka” – swims on the outskirts of Warsaw – from Łomianki to Białołęka
„Słonka”, „Pliszka” and „Turkowka” take up to 21 people with bicycles. It may happen that sometimes you will have to wait 1-2 courses to get to the other side. The ferry „Wilga” takes up to 40 people and 40 bikes on board, so here you will usually take the first course.
The ferries run during the following hours:
• on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays – from approximately 9.30 to 20.00, about every 20 minutes;
• on weekdays – from about 12:30 to 19:00, about every 30 minutes;
In May and June ferries sail on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, and from July the 1st to August the 31st, also on weekdays. After the holidays, they return to the “Sunday-holiday” timetable. The ferries will run until September the 15.
